GVTC Employees
GVTC employees donate thousands of hours of community service to non profit organizations through company sponsored events, but more often as individuals. As individuals, these employees have volunteered 5,024 hours of their time in 2006, 7,625 hours in 2007 and 1,234 hours so far in 2008. The GVTC Foundation encourages employees to get involved in the community through the Employee Activities Committee (EAC) and The Connected to the Community program. The Connected to the Community program honors all employees who give back to the community through time and/or donations.
The GVTC Foundation also provides tee shirts and other materials for teams that participate in community service activities like delivering gifts and food, planting trees, road clean up and raising money for other non profit causes. For many years, GVTC employees have formed teams with their co-workers to participate in the community’s March of Dimes Walk for Life event. In 2006, GVTC employees raised over $6,000.00 for the March of Dimes, in 2007 they raised over $11,000.00 and in 2008 they have raised $3500.00 so far. GVTC employees also participate in Denims for Babies and the Red Dress Campaign to combat cancer. GVTC employees also participate in the annual Breast Cancer Awareness campaign and give blood twice a year to the South Texas Blood Bank.
In November, the GVTC employees sponsor an Angel Tree for needy families with children. These families are selected confidentially through our local schools and often cannot afford Christmas gifts for their children. Through generous donations of gifts by GVTC employees, many local families are able to celebrate a wonderful holiday season with their children.
Each year, GVTC employees spend countless hours giving back to their community. The GVTC Foundation is proud to honor and work with these fine employees.
